Hastoe is a specialist rural housing association. We own and manage over 7,500 homes in around 70 local authority areas across southern England, from Norfolk to Cornwall.
Hastoe’s vision is ‘building sustainable homes in sustainable communities’. We are passionate about the difference new affordable homes can make in sustaining rural services and maintaining viable communities in Rural England.
Hastoe is also passionate about environmental sustainability. We are a pioneer in building homes to Passivhaus standard – a highly energy efficient building method that can reduce heating bills to less than £150 per year. We are a founding member of the Passivhaus Trust and have built well over 100 Passivhaus homes since 2011.
Hastoe has a very different development model to the norm and we work hand in hand with the local community to build sensitively-designed, high-quality homes. We are proud that our homes fit the local vernacular and are sensitive to the local built environment.
Our primary method of development is through the Rural Exception Site model, which means the homes we build are for a local need and will be available for people who live and work in the local area – now and forever.
