Rural groups write to the Prime Minister about no-deal Brexit

The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and the Tenant Farmers Association (TFA) have written to the Prime Minister to emphasise that a no-deal Brexit is ‘highly undesirable’ for the rural economy

Farming UK covers the letter, which outlines priority areas for the associations’ members. These include maintaining market access through ensuring continued access to EU markets; longer-term profitability in a no-deal context through a commitment from the Government to consider migrant labour needs and legislation to ban the importation of food produced with techniques banned in the UK.

Tim Breitmeyer, president of the CLA, said the rural sector wants both the UK and EU to return to the negotiating table 'immediately'.
