The future of farming and the countryside

The RSA’s Food, Farming and Countryside Commission published a report into the future of farming and the countryside.

The report was divided into four sections: Meeting our global obligations, Securing the value of land, Good work for a thriving economy and Good food for healthy communities.

It emphasised the challenge of addressing the competition for land in the UK between those who wish to build houses or other infrastructure and those who wish to farm.

It also addressed the lack of skills and training in rural communities as well as the frequent lack of year-round secure employment.
